Running....walking....walking...running....a lot more walking

Alden 5k Run

So I did it!  And it felt GREAT! There was no record time, there was no amazing finish but I did it!

I remember a couple years back maybe it was last year I don't remember exactly but I walked it and it took me over an hour.  I finished in like 54 minutes this time.  I had hoped to run a little bit longer than I had but my calf started cramping so at the 2 mile mark I walked the rest of it.

Once the rest of the pack left me in the dust I felt a sense of freedom on my own.  It reminded me of when I was training and all by myself.  I kept my focus on breathing, and just kept watching the pavement move by with every step I took.  I didn't  worry about the people watching from their front porch.  If they cheered me I gave them a thumbs up and a smile and chugged along.

Once I had made it past the 2 mile mark I looked up to see the front of the pack already making their way back through the last leg of the race.  At that point all I could think about was how my boys were doing in the race and kept an eye out for them to cheer them on as they past.

By this point I had people passing me left and right, even when I was "my so called running"  I had walkers passing me.  I would joke around with them and say they weren't allowed to pass me it's in the rule! LOL  One young girl was so cute she actually slowed down to let me pass...I just laughed and said keep going silly "JK"!  I kept looking back for the end of the race and was happy to see it was far behind me.  My goal was not to be last!

I had finally caught my eye on my oldest son Evan, he was doing great and keeping up with all his swim buddies.  As I kept eyeing the runners for my youngest son Braden,  I realized that there's no "right" size to be a runner.  There were several that past that I couldn't believe were running and at the top of the pack.  There's no "right" way to run either!  There were people that looked like they were running like they were just floating on air, and others that looked like they were walking on hot coals! The point is none of these people care how they look running, these runners are one up on all of those that aren't running and I am now one of those people.

I'm sick......

Woke up with a cold yesterday!!!!  I blame the massage I got on Monday, which was wonderful!

All those free radicals and toxins that have built up since my last cleanse are finding their way out.  Runny nose, sneezing, achey head, can't sleep, it's a good thing I had my rehydrate and spark to drink helped make it through work the past couple of days!!!

Going to be starting another cleanse April 6th let me know if you want to be my cleanse pal 😁

Nice day for a walk!

So I've set a goal for myself.....I want to walk/run a 5k in 35 minutes.....is that achievable for me?  YES!!  So yesterday here in a suburb of Buffalo was a slightly cold and very windy day.  The snow from the recent Blizzard is almost gone and I felt motivated to go for a walk.  It felt so good, walked almost two miles, would've been more but stopped at a friends house who then gave me and my son a ride home so he could sleep over with the friend.

I started using Map my run, I really like that app so along with my fitbit and Advocare I'm ready to rock!  I have to figure out how to post my maps on here but if you use the app and want to follow me send me a request or email me robin_fix@rocketmail.com.

Second Week Completed....going down?

So I am down another 3 pounds!  That's a total of 7 pounds on the 24 day challenge!  I feel great, eating right now just need to add a little cardio.  This isn't easy and really am proud of myself for doing this.  I stop and wonder why the hell did I ever eat as badly as I did.

Just think if I chopped my long locks of hair I'd probably loose another pound!  Oh but we could go on about what I could chop to loose weight.  One thing I am going to shoot for beside weight loss and I guess this is more of my reward if I get to my goal is that I do want get rid of the access skin that will accompany the weight loss.  I know right now it still won't look pretty under that shirt! LOL

Ok so anyway I don't think I ever listed what my target weight is.  On July 19, 2013 I weight 258, I had started my weight loss journey after my cousin got me my Fitbit.  I started my researching foods, exercise routines, and looking for self motivation.  I had recently been in the emergency room after a God awful gallbladders attack!

So after researching diets to eliminate the chances of another gallbladder attack I quickly realized that if ya just eat the healthy fricken foods you won't have a gallbladder attack.  So first thing I did was cut out all sugary drinks (well accept my Tim Horton's large triple/triple coffee) I would try to remember to eat breakfast, always packed fruits for snacks and a nice salad for lunch.  The first week I lost 4 pounds.  The weight loss was slow but I had also stopped trying to hard.

Now with Advocare, it takes the stress out of starting a healthy life style.  You get a jump start with the 10 day cleanse, and if you can do it for 24 days how about another 24.  To have everything broken down for you and a chart to keep you on track it makes it easy!  I am loving myself even more and when you can love yourself and not worry about what others think you know you have the right attitude to accomplish anything you put your mind to.

My suggestions to anyone is get a pedometer, if you can get an electronic one like Fitbit, that's fine but the benefits of Fitbit and the resources you have on their website and mobile app make you accountable and put it right there in your face so when you eat that Cheeseburger you'll see it in your food log and the only way to change it is by you doing the right thing.  You know the old saying "Out of sight out of mind", EXACTLY FOLKS!

Second suggestion start weekly weigh ins.  As soon as you get up, get on the scale and record it on your Fitbit app or whatever it is your using.  I choose Monday but I have to wait until I get to work because I don't own a scale.  AND ALWAYS USE THE SAME SCALE!

Third start planning and preparing your meals ahead of time!

That's all I got for now!  I tend to ramble sorry!  (no really ha ha)

Until next time kids!  Drop me a message let me know your reading and tell me what your doing to start your healthy life!

Day 3-9

Day 3-9

So it's been a great week for me!  I lost 4lbs.!!!! Yay me!!!!  I couldn't be happier, but I'm not gonna get myself to excited next week I may gain 4 lbs pack LOL!  I need to get better prepared for the week, of course lack of money also doesn't help someone that's trying to buy all the healthy stuff.

I can't wait for summer this year.  I'm already planning my garden, I will have the usual cucumber and tomatoes, but will add beans, carrots, lettuce and still thinking about the rest!  I want to do a lot of canning and freezing.  I have thought about doing a crop share if you have one you use send me the name and phone number so I can price them out.

So back to the challenge....I don't even miss coffee it's like I never even had it before.  As a matter of fact I don't miss bread, candy, cookies, sweets, lol.  If I can make it through 1 week I can make it through more.  That's my motto sounds good doesn't it.  I plan on starting some additional cardio and light strength training next week.  I have to get in the groove of my new eating habits before I can try and remember one more thing in the morning.

We have such a nice gym at work and it's FREE!  Can't go wrong with that can you?  Of course on top of my exercise I get at my two jobs and raising two boys and taking care of a house on a single income that is.  I want to thank everyone for their words of encouragement and support it means a lot.  Writing in my blog really helps if you know me you know I LOVE to talk so I have no problem spitting this out in print!  Ha ha!

My son Evan (the 16 yr. old) said if I have to hear "I'm on a cleanse" one more time.....LOL that's what he hears when someone offers me something to eat or drink.  I think I'm going to keep saying it just to aggravate him.

Well folks stay tuned more to come.....

Day 1 and 2

So day 1 went well....took my measurements.  I had a meal replacement shake for breakfast, then a banana for my first snack, then salad with tomatoes, romaine, shaved carrots, cucumbers, green onions,  red wine vinegar and 1 tlbsp of sesame oil.   My second snack was an orange then I had another meal replacement for dinner because I had to work my second job and had no time for dinner.  When I got home I ate 2 apples and a carrot.  Took my cleanse pills and off to bed!  My exercise for the day was MOPPING FOR 4 FRICKEN HOURS AT PIER 1!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weight: 245
Right Arm 15.25
Shoulders 17
Chest 52.5
Waist 47.75
Hips 59
Right Thigh 28
Right Calf 14

So some of you may be wondering WHY I would be sharing this horrifying information with you.  Well to be honest it's to make me more accountable.  At the end of the 24 days I want to be able to show progress.  I want others to also see it's not just for skinny people looking to get toned and even skinner!  If I can encourage at least one other person to start they're challenge of eating right and loosing weight I have succeeded!  I'm not saying you have to choose the Advocare 24 Day Challenge, but do SOMETHING! Start with a cleanse though, if your like me you'll need it and it will give you that jumpstart and motivation to keep on going!

Day 2 - I didn't go to work today we are under a state of emergency here in WNY, I didn't want to get stranded at work and have my kids home all alone so I slept until 11am today!  LOL, So everything has been a bit out of wack!  On top of that I got my period (so I know TMI).

Check out my exercise for today!
